Well J did very well in his mock exams - well done and keep it up.
P is decorating the bathroom - yay! Managed to persuade him to stick to white skirting boards not green. Think he's about to go all creative with a mural on the wall.
He and J are also busy making model aeroplanes for a show later in the year. I just don't get the model aeroplane thing.
P made me a lovely lunch today - game pie and chocolate pudding - yum.

Brrr
Woke up to snow again this morning but not much. J reluctantly agreed to take his coat which was just as well as the traffic was so bad P had to drop him off and he walked the last bit. Inability to feel the cold runs in P's family. The third Christmas we had at P's dads I finally plucked up courage to ask if we could have some form of heating - P's dad had no heating at all until he lit the fire at 4pm and Christmas was no exception. It wasn't an insulated house like ours it was just plain freezing. He, P and J looked at me like I was completely weird - 'she wants heating???'. Anyway they agreed to light the fire for me.
I like it when it snows cos I can turn on the heater and snuggle up in nice warm clothes and fleecy blankets and my family can't deny that it's cold.
P and I went to town and I bought a jacket - a pale khaki green one. This is cos we've been invited to a 'smart casual' dinner and I'm trying to find something to wear. Wonder if I could get away with my green and brown floral skirt with boots??

Weigh-in
Today was weekly weigh-in. Neither if us had lost any weight despite me really trying and P sort of trying.. Wonder if scales are working properly. However over the last three weeks I have lost two inches from my waist which is good! Yay! Apart from one flapjack and some chocolate pudding and ice-cream yesterday I've had hardly any sugar all week and very little last week. It's hard going though. Would like to get a few pounds below what I was in the summer.
J is my supporter in this, if you count yelling "Don't eat chocolate Mum!" as support.

Snow
We've had snow but not much so schools not closed or anything. I miss those days when the word 'snow' would send J into paroxysms of delight. Now he just grunts. I embarrassed him by reminding him of the time, when he was about 8, that he woke up one morning groaning that he was too ill to go to school.
"School's shut, it's snowing," I said.
In an instant he bounded out of bed completely better. Obviously a miracle.
With hind-sight I wish I'd made him stay in bed.

No sugar day
Haven't eaten any sugar today. This is partly motivated by a desire to lose a bit more weight - did really well over summer then put 4 pounds back on again. Also my dad, who's not really all that well, might have Type 2 diabetes. He has been overweight for years.
Anyway today I feel awful.
I have however managed to do it. Even resisted the last bit of Christmas cake.
Can I do it again tomorrow?

Bit if an update
We headed off to Wales the Sunday after Christmas ( delayed a day cos of P's cold). Had a really nice time with my family and a nice New year's party with my brother's friends. Weather was a bit icy at times but not too bad. On the journey home I started going down with the cold and spent a couple of days in bed but just glad I didn't get it over Christmas.
J had an extra two weeks off school - the first as study leave and then he had mock exams during the second week. He said they went ok. They have a formal mock results day next Thursday. I think it's meant to scare them a bit into working harder - imagining opening the real thing in August.
J is doing an Alpha course at church which he's enjoying. His friend Tim goes along as well.
Our church is going well, hosted the Unity service last week - very well attended.
Went on another healing course on Saturday - very good.

Happy Christmas
Hope you're having a nice Christmas. P developed a cold Christmas Eve but still cooked some wonderful food assisted by J. Had Mavis for the day - seemed to enjoy it. I sat on the sofa watched the Queen and fell asleep. Went to 'old church' in the morning with J, nice to catch up with people. Been nice relaxing time really.
