Happy Easter!
Hope you've had a good day.
We spent a week with my brother in Wales where the weather was wonderful in contrast to last Easter's Arctic weather. Had such a good time. My younger niece's boyfriend (both have Down's sydrome) developed double pneumonia and was very ill for a while which was a concern but he is now on the mend, thankfully. Coudn't stay for Easter Sunday as J is back at school Tuesday so would have had to drive home on Bank Holiday Monday - no thanks. Actually we had quite a bad journey home on Wednesday - lots of delays.
On Good Friday our church was handing out chocolate eggs and stickers in the High Street, hoping this would lead to conversations about Jesus. We very nobly volunteered to go in the coffee shop where the management were happy for us to go ahead (we gave them some eggs). Felt we ought to buy some drinks so basically I sat drinking decaff flat whites and praying while P went round with the eggs. He had some good conversations and several parents were willing for him to explain about Easter to their children. Three families whom he told about the 'Churches Together Service' a bit later actually turned up at the church.
The service was packed, short, simple and very moving. The traditional Easter hymns just make me cry. Each year it just gets a bit harder to even begin to think of what Jesus went through for me.
For some reason I had a tummy ache last night and hardly slept so didn't feel too good at church this morning especially as I had to be a 'welcomer'. Made a huge effort to smile and look cheerful. Good meeting anyway. Afterwards we picked up Mavis and had her here for the day. She is quite undemanding and happy to sit and knit/watch TV and didn't mind me having an afternoon nap.
P cooked a lovely roast chicken dinner, followed by some plum pudding (I only had a tiny piece) and some Easter egg. Yum.
